Good Morning! I am up bright and breezy down in Farnham, Surrey (where I was born/grew up), to collect some large bell tents for events this year! It has been a real trip down memory lane walking the streets and lanes yesterday of the town which holds so many memories, and it brought so many flooding back on this whistle stop tour.
From buying black nail polish as a teen from a tiny independent chemist that is now a boutique, to gazing in the ceiling to floor windows of a well known chain coffee shop, where I used to work on the deli in the food hall. Wearing both a straw boater hat and knitted pink roll neck jumper as part of the uniform back then, formerly known as Kaighin & Sons. In this town I cried, got drunk, grew up, threw up and indeed got stood up, and it holds a large piece of my heart as I haven't returned properly since my dad passed away here in an RTA, and I moved quite quickly away.
Perhaps it was meant to be the tents being this way, and requiring a fleeting visit back to this now almost unrecognisable place that I spent the first eighteen years of my life. Perhaps we too are like tents with our memories, stored away for months or years at a time, and every once in a while they need unpacking, shaking out and checking for holes or rips (which we likely knew were there already), and given a little bit of time to patch up with some tlc.
